Molly began her career as an elementary math teacher in under-resourced schools before earning her Ph.D. in Learning Sciences and Technology Design from Stanford University. At Stanford, she collaborated with Linda Darling-Hammond on landmark research into how technology can close achievement gaps for underserved students, work that shaped national education policy.

She co-founded a school for students with behavior challenges, launched MBZ Labs (an EdTech research consultancy), and co-authored Design Thinking for Every Classroom with Stanford professor Shelley Goldman (Routledge, 2021). Her writing has appeared in EdSurge and American Educator, and she has spoken at conferences including Learning and the Brain and Stanford's Education's Digital Future.

When her own son's world was turned upside down by trauma at school, Molly put her research skills to work. She spent hundreds of hours studying trauma, social-emotional development, and healing. In less than a year, her son went from flipping tables and cowering behind barricades to calmly confronting his second-grade bully. The tools that transformed her family became the foundation of Sweet Emotion, which won the Hay House Writer's Competition.

Today, through her company Feelings Unbound, Molly teaches parents, students, corporate teams, and professional groups practical strategies for emotional freedom. She also maintains a private 1:1 parent coaching practice.

What Families Are Saying

From TikTok followers to early readers, this work is changing how families approach their feelings.

This book gave me the words for something I've been feeling my whole life. Within two weeks, the way I respond to my kids' big emotions has completely shifted.

Molly doesn't just tell you to 'take a deep breath.' She gives you the missing manual for what to do AFTER the breath. My family needed this.

As a dad who grew up hearing 'boys don't cry,' this book gave me permission to feel and the tools to teach my sons to do the same.

I picked this up for my kids. Turns out it healed something in me first. The lightness Molly describes after clearing an emotion is real.
